Earn up to 5% interest while helping secure the future of ethical housing.
Ty Brethyn is a fully mutual housing co-operative on five acres of Welsh hillside. We’ve run this way for 19 years, built on common ownership and a shared responsibility for the land we live on.
We’re raising £90,000–£136,000 through our 2026 Loan Stock, replacing loan stock that’s reaching the end of its term as part of a planned refinancing. Investing with us for three years or nine helps keep this land in common hands for the people who live here now and the people who’ll live here after us.
The Opportunity
We are looking to raise £90,000 – £136,000 to replace expiring loan stock as part of a planned refinancing process. Whether you want to support us for 3 years or 9, your investment is the foundation of our stability.

Investors can also choose a lower Supporter’s Rate (0%–4.5%) to give the co-op extra breathing room. Minimum investment is £2,000, in units of £1,000.
Interest is paid annually. Capital is repaid in full at the end of the agreed term.
Why Invest in Us
Ethical Finance
The co-op holds two loans from lenders with a background in co-operatives: North West Housing Services and Co-operative and Community Finance. Loan stock like this is offered to people in the co-operative housing sector, and to others who understand and value co-operative principles, locally and further afield. No individual member can profit from the co-op. Any surplus goes back into it.
The Co-op’s Assets
A 2025 property valuation put Ty Brethyn’s worth at £795,000. Current liabilities stand at £486,000. Full details of our financial structure, including the contingent discount on the property deed, are set out in our Investors’ Information Pack.
Our Track Record
We have never missed a payment to a loan stock investor.
Professional Support
Our financial accounts are overseen by North West Housing Services. We’re registered with the Financial Conduct Authority and are members of the Confederation of Co-operative Housing. We receive support from Cwmpas and Radical Routes.
